There are three different technologies used for lamination, supplied under the following brand names:

• Novamelt® A and Novamelt® NW - conventional hotmelt adhesives
• Novamelt® PS -hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesives
• Novarad® RC -UV-curable hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesives

A distinction is made between hotmelt adhesives based on polyolefins, which have a limited open time and permanent adhesives based on thermoplastic rubber and UV-curable acrylics. Novarad® RC products are used for laminating tasks such as flexible packaging or lamination constructions for the building industry. At room temperature, all hotmelt adhesives are solid.

All hotmelt types are supplied in blocks of 4 kg, 8 kg or 20 kg packed in siliconised cardboard boxes or in siliconised fibredrums containing 165 or 175 kg.

Hotmelt adhesives are liquified by means of block melters or drum-unloaders. Coating is made at 150 to 180 °C on standard roller- or slot-die-coating machines.
